THE DISTILLED HISTORY OF BALLARAT

Wednesday 8th October 7pm

We’ll be joined by Luke McCarthy, one of the best researched brains in the world of Australian spirits. Luke will delve into the history of distilling and whisk(e)y production in Ballarat and surrounds. Learn about the grains used, production methods, styles produced and the people who made it. Luke will also be discussing Goldfields drinking culture - from sly grog shops and tents to drinking rituals and favourite libations. 

You will be welcomed with a cocktail on arrival, inspired by a famous mid-19th century punch. Our head distiller James Fairlie will also be guiding us through a tasting of our Vansetter Vodka, new make spirit and currently maturing Wayfarer Whiskey. Every ticket purchase will also receive a copy of Luke’s recently published book, ‘Forgotten Spirits: A History of the Distilling Industry in Victoria’ (usually $39.95).

URBAN WINE WALK BALLARAT

The streets and laneways of Ballarat are set to come alive this Spring as a line-up of venues each play host to an incredible winemaker who'll be there, ready to pour and chat their way through an unforgettable afternoon.

RUM ODYSSEY WITH CASA DE VINOS

Wednesday 30th October 7pm

Explore the world of Rum with Casa de Vinos’ spirit expert George Leung has hand-selected six exceptional rums, each offering distinct character, terroir, and aging techniques. George will guide us through tasting notes, production methods, and the rich histories behind each bottle. 

On the night we’ll be sampling these six amazing rums.
